We thought you might like to know a little about the history of this famous fish & chip shop. First opened by Henry Bishop in the 1920's, the shop was later taken over by Dick & Dorothy Matins who converted the adjacent cottages into a restaurant and successfully run the business until their retirement in 1971. The Zelos family have been frying fish & chips for over 65 years and took over the business renaming it Dave's Fish Restaurant after one of Joe and Eileen Zelos's 7 sons (3 daughters too!). Joe had been frying fish and chips for many years and Eileen was the daughter of 'Winkle Abbs, a local fisherman from East Runton.

In 1975 their son John and his wife Beryl took over the running of the business and are the present proprietors. In 1992 a second shop was opened, Dave's 2 in High Street, opposite the Town Clock. In 1998 the Co-op Street restaurant was extended. Both shops remain committed to customer services, quality and great value for money.
